Big Contractors&#39; Lot

Large bronze pot features champleve band, three loop handles, and a footed base. Champleve is the process where a recess is made in the object, whether by etching, die casting, or carving, and then filled with powdered glass. Heat is applied to fuse and smooth the glass. Champleve was in use in the 2nd or 3rd century B.C., possibly earlier. Both trays feature hand-painted floral designs typical of toleware folk art.
