Lot #56: Morris Style Armchair With Griffins

Burled oak Morris-style armchair from the Arts and Crafts period of furniture. This piece is from the early 20th century between 1900 -1915. It is not signed. It has damage on the front cushion, and the back cushion has been warped because of storage issues. There is damage to the base of the chair. Several zip sizes hold together a piece of oak. This chair has held my weight, and I weigh 230 pounds. The original rod in the back of the chair is gone. This chair has burled oak with Griffins at the front. The chair still reclines well. However, there is also scratching where the rod rode on the reclining part of the chair. This is an excellent example of a chair of the period. Morris chairs are a great example of the British arts and crafts movement and are deeply inspired by Victorian designs compared to the Stickley style which inspired the American craftsman movement  *Complimentary coffee will be available at pickup if you have any questions about any item in this auction please feel free to ask in the question section.
