Here we have a beautiful art deco framed Buzza motto style poem entitled, "A Friend or Two". The poem was written by Wilbur D. Nesbit and we believe this was from the 1910s or 1920s. The poem reads:There's all of pleasure and all of peaceIn a friend or two:And all your troubles may find releaseWith a friend or two; It's in the grip of the clasping handOn native soil or in alien land,But the world is made--do you understand?Of a friend or two.The brother -soul and the brother heartOf a friend or twoMake us drift on from the crowd apartWith a friend or two,For come days happy or come days sadWe count no hours but the ones made gladBy the hale good times we have ever hadWith a friend or two.The poem is on a gold background surrounded by a floral design in gold, silver and yellow on a black background. The frame is 12 inches tall, 8 inches across and about 1/2 inch in depth. It is outlined in gold and silver. The poem and surrounding design looks as if it's painted in reverse on the glass but we aren't sure. Please note the paper backing is torn, brittle and barely hanging on. It most likely needs to be replaced but we are leaving as is so the buyer can make that decision. Two eye-hooks and wire are on the back for hanging on the wall. The framed poem is in good shape considering it's around 100 years old. Overall, this is a sweet piece with a nice sentiment of friendship. We think it would be perfect hanging in a guest room or as a gift for a special friend. This framed poem was published by The PF Volland Co. in Joliet, Illinois. This company published poetry books, greeting cards, music, children's books, calendars, cookbooks, and children's games between 1908 and 1959.
