Lot #13: Old English Brass And Copper Urn

The body of this vessel is made from sheet copper and brass, hand tooled with figures suggesting the eight kingdoms that would later become England. First figure shown is likely King Aethelred, first King of England, due to English flag under his throne, and he is the only one seated. Probably weighs about 10lbs. Measures approx. 14" with handles, and 9.5" wide without. Stands approx. 11" tall to the top of the handle, and 8.5" to the lip of the drum. Casted brass mast head style handles affixed with simple slotted screws. The outside brass sheet is crimped at the top and bottom as seen in photos, encasing the copper lining which has one very interesting seam down one side. If you have seen the Netflix show The Last Kingdom and its follow-up movie Seven Kings Must..., you will understand the imagery on this. Or perhaps you are an expert in English history without having watched the show, and that's cool too. Either way, you should have this in your collection.
