Lot #51: 3 vol. Wallace Nutting "Furniture Treasury" plus Books on Antiques

For the collector of antiques and oriental rugs, a group of reference books, both vintage and contemporary. The highlight is the 3 volume "Furniture Treasury" by artist Wallace Nutting, in very good condition. Nutting was an artist, photographer, minister, furniture maker, and antiquarian,  perhaps best known for his hand-tinted photos of various New England pastoral scenes. The first 2 volumes of the set address specific kinds and styles of furniture, while the third is a wide ranging treatise on the art of collecting, repair, restoration, and maintenance. All 3 are illustrated with black & white photos and line drawings. Volumes I and II have dust jackets, and were published in 1928; volume III is without jacket, and was published in 1933. All with warm brown boards and gilt impress titles, from The University Press in Cambridge, MA. Plus a small selection of books on antique furniture, oriental rugs, and more.
