Lot #72: Quartet of Books Includes "Walden," Early Editions

As new Milestone Editions copy of "Walden," likely mid 1960s, with cloth boards and spine, gilt impress signature on front board, and gilt title on spine. A first edition of Margery Sharp's "The Flowering Thorn," from Little, Brown and Company, 1935. Blue boards with very slight fading, gilt impress to spine, pages fine, dustjacket with some wear. A handbound reproduction of Celia Thaxter's classic "Among the Isles of Shoals," originally printed in 1873. This custom edition features brightly patterned cloth boards, a facsimile of the original edition's pages, endpapers with black and white maps, and a dustjacket with some wear. Also includes a a hand-written card with drawings, from the bookbinder, George P. Geauque, dated 1986. And the second edition of Charles Darwin's "Descent of Man," published by A.L. Burt and Company. Red cloth boards, gilt impress to spine, gilt top pages, black and white line illustrations throughout, very slight foxing to page edges, overall good condition.
