Vintage (&#39;30&#39;s) Folk Art Wood Carving of Canoeing Couple

On offer is a vintage framed (under glass with matte) Indigenous art&nbsp;limited edition print by the late Haida artist Francis Williams (1936-2003). #40/100. Signed in pencil under image on left hand side. His Indigenous name&nbsp;was 'Yalthgwaawiis' and he was a technical master in carving, printmaking and jewellery making. His work is rare as he passed in 2003. Born in Old Masset, he was taught by Arthur Adams and later in life mentored several generations of young artists at home and at UBC. The same print (#78/100) was listed in 2016 for $650 US. There are no condition issues at all with this print. No foxing, fading, yellowing, scratches to the glass. From 'Lentswe La Oodi Weavers'.&nbsp;Established in 1973, the Oodi Project, initially known as 'Lentswe la Oodi Weavers', was founded by Swedish expatriates Ulla and Peder Gowenius. They imparted invaluable knowledge to the local community, teaching them the art of spinning, dyeing, and weaving.&nbsp;The projects original objective was to instill confidence within the local community, empowering them to manage their own livelihoods. At its peak, the cooperative garnered immense respect, both locally and internationally, thanks to their handwoven wall hangings, cushion covers, and bedspreads, all of which depicted the vivid tapestry of village life.Now, four decades later, the women who initiated this project in 1973 find themselves reflecting on the past. They have aged gracefully and aspire to retire, yet they lament the disinterest of todays youth in learning the art of weaving, citing the demanding patience it requires.</div><div>In other words, weaving is a dying art so grab a piece of history! Large Vintage Signed Stoneware Pantry Jar

Ted Diakow is a BC based artist (Kootenay,BC) who studied in Alberta. Known mostly for his ceramics he is also a painter and printmaker. This large low bowl is in very good condition. No visible, chips, repairs or crazing. Buffalo form in the middle evokes his love for wildlife and natural spaces. Signed and dated on the underside. Most active in 70's-'90's.&nbsp; Several public collections house Diakows work, including those of the Calgary Allied Arts Foundation, Government House Foundation in Edmonton and the Massey Foundation in Toronto. Several Calgary corporate offices have commissioned work from Diakow, including Gulf Canada, Ocelot Industries (held in its Japanese branch), and Trizec. Diakow won the Pool Award at the All-Alberta Show (1963), and an Honourable Mention for the G.A. Reid Silver Memorial Award (1962). Diakow taught at the University of Calgary (1975  1976), and at the Continuing Education Department of the Alberta College of Art (1974  1980). Here are 3 pieces of B.C. Indigenous artisan silver jewellery. All are in excellent condition with no scratches, tarnish or other issues. All are signed with their respective artists' initials. The ring also says 'WHALE' on the inside, identifying the spirit animal depicted on the outer face. The salmon brooch measures 2.25"/ 5.5 cm, the earrings are 1.5"/ 4 cm long and the ring is a size 5. Total weight 15gr. They are housed in a lidded wooden box with an Inukshuk rendered in marquetry on the lid.
