Lot #31: NeedleBooks & Advertising Ephemera w/Vitrine

A well-preserved assortment of needlecases, packets, and trading cards, including the popular "Rocket" (1965), "Sweetheart" (1920), "Reliance", and "Ladies Having Tea" (1950)  needle packets from Japan with typical-of-the-day American imagery - (remember "Made in Japan"? )  And one more from Japan  showing elves sewing on the front flap.  An Akra needle book from Czechoslovakia (circa 1970) with American Indian imagery. And many novelties and cards including a crotch device w/tape measure, a 10" glove stretcher compliments of Max Mayer & Co. on Park Ave in NYC, helpful pages from a lady's home periodical,  and our favorite - a sample tin of Antikamnia tablets. The Antikamnia Chemical Company (18901930), named after its patent medicine Antikamnia, was an American pharmaceutical company based in St. Louis that manufactured supposed cures for pains with the main ingredient being acetanilid, which was known to be toxic. They produced a range of products with mixtures of therapeutic chemicals including both quinine and heroin.
