How do I search for auctions or items?

At this time, we ask that our customers understand the following requirements to continue to offer a safe operation at all Maxsold auction locations: <ul><li>Maxsold adheres to regional health guidelines with regard to masking and health and safety requirements moving forward.</li> <li>Masks are mandatory for all buyers and sellers if local rules require. Do I have to wear a mask on site?

Invoice: All buyers must be prepared to show their invoices at pickup (either a printed paper copy or a digital version displayed on a phone, tablet or other mobile devices). Identification: Buyers with invoices over $300 must be prepared to show a photo ID and the credit card used to complete the purchase before items can be released. If you will be unable to attend pickup with these documents, please <a target='_blank' tabindex='0' href='https://static.zdassets.com/web_widget/latest/liveChat.html?v=10#key=youbidlocal.zendesk.com'>click here to chat</a> with our support team prior to the pickup day to make alternative arrangements for verification. Packaging materials such as bags, boxes, and newspapers for wrapping delicate items. Packaging your fragile purchases will reduce the chance of them being damaged during transport. Our sellers or team members will not supply packaging materials for your purchases. Tools may be required for the disassembly of furniture or equipment. Our sellers and team members will not be able to supply tools or similar equipment, so please be sure to come prepared. Assistance for large or heavy objects that require more than one person to safely move or carry. It is important to bring any necessary assistance to prevent injury. Note that our sellers or team members will not be permitted to assist with carrying items.

What should I bring to a pickup?

What is the pickup address?

We are normally unable to provide more information about a lot other than what is already listed in the catalog, since our team does not have continuous access to the seller’s property. If our support team receives additional information about an item from the seller, they will update the catalog listing. Please note that a lot’s description takes precedence over the pictures. We are also unable to definitively state the working condition of any item. Because Maxsold’s mission is to clear all items within the seller’s time constraints, everything is sold ‘as-is-where-is’.

Is there any more information about items listed in an auction?

Once you have completed bidder registration, we send an activation link to the registered email address. Please check your spam in case the email was accidentally flagged. How do I activate my bidder account?

Items in Maxsold auctions are assigned a pickup category based on size, the relative position of other items in the property, or other factors that may impact the ease or safety of removing the item from the property. Buyers purchasing items from multiple categories will be assigned pickup times corresponding to the latest category assigned among items purchased. Buyers arriving earlier than their assigned time may be asked to wait to retrieve their purchases until such time as all items are clear and safely accessible. <ul><li>Category A - Buyer will remove from the home. Logistically will need to be removed FIRST to permit the removal of other items. These could be items on top of, or in the way of another item that needs to be removed before the buyers for later categories collect their items.</li> <li>Category B - Buyer will remove from the home. Logistically will need to be removed AFTER Category A but BEFORE the removal of other items. These could be items on top of, or in the way of another item that needs to be removed before the buyers for later categories collect their items.</li> <li>Category C - Buyer to dismantle and remove from the home. Large items like china cabinets, tool containers, bookcases, or large rugs need to be taken out LAST to ensure the buyer has room to carry their large pieces out without trouble. </li> <li>Additional Categories D/E/F May be used for larger auctions to assist with social distancing. We recommend using categories in order of logistics for the removal of items. Things on or in an item, are to be removed first (earlier categories) and items that need to be cleared off, or dismantled, are to be later categories.</li> <li>Category Z Buyer to make alternate arrangements with Seller, no more than 10 business days from the auction closing.</li> </ul>Please check the auction information to determine if the seller has opted to offer shipping and/or delivery. Maxsold does not deliver or ship, and all arrangements for these options will be made directly with the seller if they have opted to offer them.

What are the pickup categories?

When bidding on an auction, you have two options: <ol><li>Enter the next minimum bid amount (listed below the bid box, e.g. "Bid $26 or more")</li> <li>Enter the highest amount (MaxBid) you would be willing to spend on the item. When you enter a MaxBid, the system will automatically outbid other bidders, starting at the next minimum bid amount and stopping at the maximum amount you specified.</li></ol> <img alt='search bar' src="/faq-images/how-to-bid/img.png"/> For example, say the current bid for an item is $2. You're interested, but wouldn't want to pay more than $10 for the item, so you enter $10 in the bid box. The system will then place your current bid at $3 (raising the current bid of $2 by the minimum increment of $1). If someone else then bids $4, this automatic process will continue until the bid reaches $10, at which point you will have to raise your MaxBid if other bidders are still competing. If no one challenges your bid of $3 before the end of the auction, you will pay $3, not the full $10. The MaxBid feature allows you to compete for an item without constantly monitoring the lot and manually entering bids. Note: other bidders can't see your MaxBid, and you can't see theirs. You can raise or lower your MaxBid at any time by simply entering a new amount in the bid box. How do I enter a MaxBid?

In some cases, you may see that even though your bid and the current bid are the same, you have been outbid. This is because someone else previously placed a MaxBid equaling the amount you just bid, and your bid prompted the system to raise their bid to its maximum. Even though you both bid the same amount, their bid wins because it was placed earlier than yours. You are welcome to raise your bid and keep competing!

How was I outbid when the current bid is the same as my bid?

Because all bidders have the ability to place a MaxBid, you may find from time to time that you have been outbid by an amount that does not seem correct. For example, if your MaxBid was $100, yet you lost an item to another buyer who won for $101, here's why: At 12:01PM, Lot 1 is at $40. At 12:30PM, Bidder1 (yourself) places a MaxBid for $100. Bidding continues and at 12:45PM, lot 1 is at $85. At 12:46PM, Bidder2 places a MaxBid of $101. Bidder2's bid is accepted since it is above the $5 minimum increment at the time (since the lot was at $85), and it also outbids your bid of $100. As another example, if you place a MaxBid of $10 when lot 2 is at $2, why did your bid jump to $6? Another bidder had a $5 MaxBid, so when you put in the $10 MaxBid, it jumped to the next $1 increment from the $5 MaxBid to $6. Note: Increments are only used to calculate the minimum bid amount. If you submit a MaxBid on an item that already has a MaxBid by another user, then the user with the highest Max Bid wins.
