Beautiful, well-preserved vintage hardcover copy of Grēka Ābols (The Apple of Sin), written by the prominent Latvian author Aīda Niedra. Published in 1968 by the iconic diaspora imprint Tilta Apgāds, this book is a 2-part novel (this volume being Pirmā Daļa / Part One). The book features a distinct, textured light green/tan cloth hardcover with elegant gold gilt-stamped typography and a striking abstract snake motif on the front board. The spine is beautifully decorated with golden geometric accents, making it an excellent shelf display piece. • Author: Aīda Niedra • Title: Grēka Ābols (Romans 2 Daļās – Pirmā Daļa) • Publisher: Tilta Apgāds • Publication Year: 1968 • Language: Latvian • The Author (Aīda Niedra): Niedra (1899–1972) is widely recognized as one of the most important and daring Latvian women novelists of the 20th century. Known for her frank, expressive prose and vivid portrayals of complex relationships, she fled Latvia as a war refugee in 1944 during the Soviet occupation, eventually settling in California. Her post-war exile literature is highly regarded for preserving authentic Latvian culture. • The Publisher (Tilta Apgāds): "Tilts" (meaning The Bridge) was a premier Latvian exile publishing house. Imprints like Tilta Apgāds played a critical historic role in maintaining free Latvian literature, language, and national identity while the homeland's printing houses were completely censored under Soviet control. • Language & Rarity: Because this book was printed in the West exclusively for the displaced Baltic diaspora community, print runs were inherently limited compared to commercial publishers. Finding these specific emigré editions in crisp, unfaded condition is becoming increasingly difficult for Baltic history enthusiasts and literature collectors. Pickup category timeslot {A}
