Lot #1: Vintage 1980s Palliser 3-Drawer Waterfall Dresser – Light Oak Finish

Classic vintage 1980s Postmodern-style 3-drawer chest of drawers manufactured by the renowned Canadian furniture company, Palliser Furniture. This sturdy bedroom chest features the iconic, flowing rounded "waterfall" top and bottom edges that defined late 20th-century contemporary design. It is finished in a warm, light oak wood-grain laminate, accented by recessed wood and brass-tone horizontal bar handles. Interior proudly bears the authentic, original Palliser maker's sticker. • Brand: Palliser Furniture • Era: Circa 1980s / Early 1990s • Era Style: Postmodern / 80s Art Deco Revival • Construction: Wood-grain laminate finish with rounded waterfall moldings See photos for condition - ink mark on front, one corner of floor of top drawer could be resecured with a small nail. • The Chicken Barn Origins: Palliser Furniture was founded in 1944 by Abram Albert DeFehr, a Russian-born immigrant to Canada. He began crafting simple wooden furniture in his Winnipeg basement, eventually moving operations into a former chicken barn, which served as the company's first official factory. • A North American Institution: Renamed Palliser in 1980, the company grew rapidly to become one of the largest furniture manufacturers in North America. They were widely celebrated for their "casegoods" (wooden dressers, desks, and bedroom sets) throughout the 1980s and 1990s. • End of an Era: This piece represents a historic era for the company. In 2004, Palliser spun its wooden furniture division off into DeFehr Furniture, which officially closed down in 2022. Today, Palliser operates strictly as an upholstery-focused brand (making custom sofas and recliners), meaning their vintage wooden casegoods like this one are no longer produced.
