Beautifully preserved pair of heavy vintage mid-century dog bust bookends featuring highly detailed Irish Setter or Spaniel hunting dogs. Produced circa 1940–1950, these heavy decorative pieces showcase an incredible level of lifelike texturing in the dog's coat, muzzle, and expressive facial features. They are perfectly weighted to hold up heavy literature while adding an elegant, rustic, or "Dark Academia" aesthetic to any library, office, or study.

Artisan Context
This particular pair features a highly unique production marking. The lower back rim edge displays a distinct, authentic hand-incised signature reading 'ACT' (or ACF). This handwritten mark was carved directly into the wet clay or plaster master mold before casting, indicating a specific sculptor's signature or specialized foundry pattern variation.

Vintage 1940s Mid-Century Dog Head Bookends, Irish Setter / Spaniel – Incised Maker Mark

Collection of vintage mid-century silver-plated tableware and bar accessories. Combining celebrated historic silversmiths from the United States, Canada, and Italy, this curated estate lot offers exceptional hosting utility and a beautifully coordinated aesthetic.
The collection includes:
• Meriden Silver Plate Co. Covered Vegetable/Entree Dish (Model 2212): An Art Deco-era, heavy oval-shaped serving piece featuring an elegant beaded border and structural handles. The dual-handled lid is uniquely engineered to invert, doubling seamlessly as a secondary open serving platter. Stamped on the base with the historic scale crest and maker's mark: "Meriden S.P. Co., International S. Co., 2212".
• Primrose Plate Water Pitcher (Model 907): A classic, bulbous Canadian-made presentation pitcher with a wide pouring lip and a stylized scroll handle. Stamped on the base: "Primrose Plate, E.P. Copper, B.M. Mounts, 907".
• William Adams Italian Silver Wire Wine Bottle Cradle: An elegant navette-form openwork wire basket with a sunburst medallion base, perfectly designed to cradle and elegantly pour a standard 750ml wine bottle. Stamped on the base: "Quality Silverplate, Italy, WA".

Meriden Silver Plate Co. (Covered Dish)

• The "Founding Father" Connection: Meriden was one of the original, elite Connecticut silver companies that came together in 1898 to form the International Silver Company, which became the largest and most dominant silver manufacturer in the world.
• Dating the Piece: The specific combination of the Meriden name alongside the "International S. Co." branding—paired with the balance-scale graphic crest—pins the production of this dish between 1921 and 1938. This guarantees it as a genuine Art Deco-era piece of American dining history.
• The Double-Serving Feature: Highlight that these early 20th-century covered vegetable dishes were specifically engineered for efficiency; the handle on the lid is intentionally low-profile so that when the cover is removed and flipped upside down, it sits perfectly flat and doubles as a second open serving bowl.

Primrose Plate (Water Pitcher)

• A Canadian Legacy: Primrose Plate is a deeply nostalgic brand for Canadian collectors, manufactured by the Birks-Ellis-Ryrie conglomerate (associated with Henry Birks & Sons, Canada's premier luxury jewelry and silver retailer). It represents mid-century Canadian craftsmanship at its finest.
• The "Bleeding Copper" Appeal: The base stamp "E.P. COPPER" means the silver was electroplated over solid copper. Over decades of polishing, the copper subtly begins to peek through on the high points and edges (a process collectors call "bleeding"). This gives the pitcher a warm, glowing golden undertone that collectors of traditional estate silver actively search for.
• Crisp Details: The "B.M. MOUNTS" stamp proves that the ornate handle and rim details were cast in Britannia Metal (a premium pewter-like alloy) before being silver-plated. This allowed the artisans to create crisp, deeply defined border patterns that do not warp or bend under the heavy weight of a full pitcher.

William Adams (Italian Wire Wine Cradle)

• The Towle Import Luxury: The "WA" crest stands for William Adams, a high-end decorative division acquired and imported by the world-famous Towle Silversmiths.
• Master Italian Craftsmanship: Towle specifically used the William Adams brand to commission artistic hollowware and bar items directly from master silversmiths in Italy. Mid-century Italian silver plate is universally praised for its incredibly smooth welds, perfectly balanced geometry, and high-quality plating.
• The Ultimate Bar Cart Essential: Rather than just a basket, this is a vintage Italian wine-pouring cradle instantly shifts it into the high-demand vintage barware market. It is highly collectible for modern home decorators styling mid-century bar carts or looking for luxury, high-end host gifts.

Compelling, original mid-century modern oil painting depicting an atmospheric interior still life. The composition features a textured yellow tin, a knife resting on a draped white cloth, and a pastry block set against a window view overlooking linear industrial or military barracks under a heavy, overcast sky. The expressive, painterly brushstrokes and muddy, industrial palette give this piece an intriguing, melancholic edge that balances traditional mid-century realism with expressive modernism.
Signatures & Markings:
• Front: Hand-signed by the artist "Damberg" in crisp white paint in the bottom right-hand corner.
• Verso: Bears its original, highly collectible vintage Grumbacher Plyex Canvas Foundation Board label (Cat No. 634-15).

The canvas backing adds excellent historical context to the piece. M. Grumbacher, Inc. was one of the premier American art supply manufacturers based in New York City throughout the 20th century. This specific "Plyex 634-15" label profile with dual corporate registry markers for New York and Toronto was utilized by the company predominantly during the 1950s and 1960s before the company changed hands in 1978.

An exquisite mid-20th-century vintage Italian musical jewelry/sewing side table featuring a distinctive triangular silhouette. Crafted in the historic woodworking style of Sorrento, Italy, the tabletop showcases highly detailed, multi-toned floral marquetry and intarsia wood inlay borders with a central starburst medallion.
The table features elegant, sweeping cabriole style sabre legs. The hinged tabletop opens to reveal a clean, vibrant blue felt-lined storage compartment divided into sections—perfect for storing fine jewelry, trinkets, or sewing keepsakes. On the underside, the original wind-up mechanism is intact alongside a foil "Made in Italy" label. The piece is driven by a mechanical Swiss musical movement that automatically triggers when the lid is lifted.
• Origin: Sorrento, Italy
• Movement: Swiss mechanical cylinder mechanism
• Materials: Mixed woods (including walnut and satinwood veneers), felt lining
• Dimensions: Approximately 17 inches (43 cm) in height with a tabletop width of roughly 14.5 inches (37 cm)

• The Sorrento Connection: These tables were popularized as luxury tourist souvenirs between the 1950s and 1970s from Sorrento, Italy—the global hub for high-quality inlaid woodwork (intarsia).
• Swiss Engineering: While the tables themselves were built by Italian cabinetmakers, they almost always outsourced the musical hardware to high-end Swiss manufacturers.
• The Triangular Form Factor: Standard square, rectangular, and octagonal variants of these tables are incredibly common on the secondary market. This triangular "corner table" variant is much scarcer.

In the horological and mechanical music world of Switzerland, Emile Matthey & Fils (founded in 1926 in Vuiteboeuf, right outside the famous music box capital of Sainte-Croix) was a premier mid-century manufacturer. Alongside Reuge and Lador, Matthey was part of the "big three" elite firms crafting precision cylinder movements that supplied the Italian furniture market before later mechanical manufacturing consolidated.

Offered for auction is a beautiful early 20th-century (circa 1900–1920) Edwardian barrel-back captain’s chair, commonly referred to as a smoker's bow or office armchair. Constructed from solid, heavy quarter-sawn white oak, the chair exhibits a gorgeous tiger-stripe grain pattern characteristic of high-quality period craftsmanship.
It features an iconic wrap-around horseshoe armrest supported by finely turned spindles and dramatic, scrolled side supports. The seat boasts its highly sought-after, original circular inset panel featuring an intricate, deep-embossed Art Nouveau floral and scrollwork motif, historically pinned in place with a perimeter of decorative iron tacks. The chair stands firmly on elegant, gently splayed cabriole-style front legs.

Condition: Structurally rock-solid with no loose joins. The wood retains a deep, warm honey-amber patina with minor, honest age-related wear, including a shallow chip on the front-right lip of the seat frame that does not affect structural integrity. The original embossed seat insert is intact and showcases a stunning relief design, with one notable historical puncture/tear near the upper-left section of the motif (visible in close-up photos). An exceptional restoration candidate or a perfect rustic statement piece. Piece from hole is still attached like a hanging chad.

The Embossed Fiber/Leather Seat: Antique chairs of this style often featured compressed fiberboard (sometimes called "Harwood seats") or heavy leather panels embossed using massive hydraulic steam presses. These decorated insert panels were a hallmark of late-Victorian and Edwardian utility furniture, designed to mimic expensive hand-carved leather. Finding one with the original insert—even with minor tearing—adds massive character and historical value over a modern vinyl replacement.
