Garfield "Sago'wis" Thomas was a Canadian Indigenous sculptor from the Iroquois (Haudenosaunee) Nation. Worked predominantly in light green, brown, and mottled soapstone, Thomas specialized in intricate, deeply etched "Transformation" and "False Face" sculptures. His pieces frequently intertwined human visages with sacred clan animals—specifically eagles, turtles, and falcons—symbolizing interconnectedness and spiritual movement between worlds.
