Lot #3: Vintage Chinese Portable Folding Triptych Buddhist Shrine

This appears to be carved from either boxwood or sandalwood, which is what they were historically carved from. The shrine features a cylindrical or arched tri-fold design connected by small metal hinges. When closed, it forms a compact, portable pillar that typically displays relief carvings of lotus flowers, protective patterns, or Chinese character stamps/seals on the exterior & base. There is a traditional carved stamp on the bottom as shown in photo #7. The central panel depicts a seated Buddha on a Lotus Throne surrounded by disciples and heavenly attendants. The side wings depict standing Bodhisattvas( such as Guanyin & Ksitigarbha) along with other celestial figures. Dimensions: 6.5 in. Tall Pickup category timeslot {A}
