Gino Ruggeri is one of the most recognized 20th-century commercial sculptors from Italy. He is famous for bridging the gap between fine Italian stone craftsmanship and durable home decor. Throughout the mid-to-late 20th century, Ruggeri worked as the master sculptor for the highly renowned Tito Bianchi Factory in Tuscany. He created hundreds of original models, specialized in religious iconography, historical figures (like Napoleon or Beethoven), and replicas of Renaissance masterpieces.Ruggeri's biggest claim to fame was a technical breakthrough in materials science. • Natural alabaster and marble are beautiful but incredibly fragile, brittle, and sensitive to moisture. • Ruggeri pioneered a process mixing pulverized pure alabaster/marble dust with a specialized liquid resin composite (often commercially referred to as Oxolyte or bonded marble).Pre-1987 (More Desirable): In 1987, the Tito Bianchi factory closed down and sold its equipment and exclusive reproduction rights to the Santini family (another massive name in Italian sculpture export, A. Santini). This specific piece features the authentic, stamped "Sculptor G. Ruggeri" label accompanied by the traditional Italian "BIB" Capitoline She-Wolf logo, which indicates it is a true vintage piece from the original Tito Bianchi factory era predating the 1987 acquisition.
