Lot #189: Maurice Chalvignac Fat Lava Table Lamp | Mid-Century Canadian Design

More than a lamp, this is a piece of sculptural art. Attributed to Quebec ceramic artist Maurice Chalvignac, its rounded body and slender neck create a striking silhouette, while a frothy cream glaze flows over a richly textured espresso finish. The contrast is what makes it unforgettable: light against dark, smooth curves against rugged volcanic texture. Switch it on to bring warmth to a room, or let it stand alone as a statement piece on a teak sideboard, console, or bedside table. For collectors and lovers of mid-century design, this lamp offers the character and visual presence that makes vintage ceramics so appealing. Its original felt-covered underside adds another detail to explore and appreciate. Pickup category timeslot {A}
