Lot #300: Miniature Painting on Porcelain La Madonna Della Sedia After Raphael

Antique hand painted porcelain of "Madonna of the Chair" (originating from France), set in an ornate metal frame. This is a late 19th century painting on porcelain of the Virgin Mary embracing Christ. It is hand painted on a lightly convex porcelain (marked at the back - see picture). Original cardboard cover at back.  This fine porcelain miniature plaque is vividly and skillfully hand painted and is in excellent condition. Colours are rich and vibrant and the surface is smooth and unblemished. This devotional miniature is set within an elaborate gilt metal frame which features a large cross at top. Frame shows wear (particularly at back, consistent with age and use). The original Renaissance painting by Raphael Sanzio (1483-1520) of La Madonna Della Sedia is in the Pitti Palazzo in Florence, Italy.
