This lamp is more of a statement piece than a source of light (the light works, but the thick marble doesnt allow much light to shine through the dome). It was rewired in the 1960s when the original cloth cord was replaced. I have no paperwork to verify this, but the family legend is that this is one of 12 lamps commissioned by my ancestor, John Francis Noll, who was the Bishop of Fort Wayne, Indiana and founder of the weekly Catholic newspaper, Our Sunday Visitor. He was in Rome and completing some work for the Vatican when he ordered the lamps to bring back to America to give to family and friends. I dont know the exact date of creation, but he was appointed by Pope Pius XII archbishop ad personam between 1953-1956, so the lamps were likely made during that period. This is a very heavy lamp and should be displayed on a sturdy table or desk that wont buckle under its weight. Condition: Good Measurements: Base of Lamp: 6.5 x 6.5 /Diameter of Dome: 10.25 /Height: 25
